Ladies Football

Our Ladies Gaelic Football team journey began with field days and the passion of the Howlin family from Rathnure, eventually leading to our official registration as a Ladies Football club in 1988.

In a remarkably short span, we have achieved success in various competitions. First winning a Junior Championship we then quickly climbed the ranks and secured our first senior title in 2001, triumphing over long-time champions Parnells amidst a thrilling downpour in Ruislip. We reached the finals consistently, and in 2007, we defeated Tara and came achingly close to victory in the all-Ireland quarter-final against St. Nathys of Sligo.

The momentum continued with three-in-a-row senior Championships final wins, including a hard-fought win against Tara in 2008. Later that year, our ladies showcased their tenacity and skill but narrowly missed out in the all-Ireland quarter-final to Killoe of Longford. The following year, we faced off against the formidable John Mitchels of Liverpool in the London championship final, emerging victorious, however, were unlucky again to fall short in the all-Ireland quarter-final against Saint Pauls of Antrim in 2009.

After a few quiet years, we roared back to the forefront, engaging in a thrilling battle and triumphing over John Mitchels in a magnificent All-Britain final.

Despite retirements and departures, we continue to build our legacy and in 2022, accomplished a Junior Championship & League double under the exceptional leadership of captain and coach Katie McGuckin from Derry.

We welcome players of all abilities, offering an inclusive and supportive environment. Join us for unforgettable experiences both on and off the field. We promise a vibrant and fun-loving community where the camaraderie is unmatched. Come and be part of our team – together, we’ll create cherished memories and chase victory with almighty craic.
